Moroccan-Turkish Energy Partnership Reaches New Heights

The National Authority for Electricity Regulation (ANRE) of Morocco recently hosted a high-profile Turkish business delegation led by Mustafa Ilker Kiliç, the Turkish Ambassador to Morocco. The meeting, held at ANRE's headquarters in Rabat on April 24, 2024, highlighted the growing collaboration and strategic partnership between the two nations in the energy sector.

The Turkish delegation discussed the critical role of electricity and its impact on various economic sectors, focusing on decarbonization, green hydrogen, and desalination projects. These areas are central to the energy strategies of both countries.

Abdellatif Bardach, President of ANRE, explained the authority's critical role in implementing Morocco's national energy strategy, a vision set forth by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. ANRE's mission is twofold: to establish a solid regulatory framework and to foster an investor-friendly environment. By regulating emerging technologies in the energy sector, ANRE aims to boost investor confidence and position Morocco as a global leader in the energy transition.

The meeting not only strengthened the existing cooperation between Morocco and Turkey but also set the stage for further advancements in sustainable energy development. As the world moves toward a significant energy transformation, this partnership between the two countries could be a driving force for positive change on a global scale.
