Moroccan Tourism Dazzles the East Coast: A Vibrant U.S. Roadshow
In a strategic maneuver aimed at fortifying Morocco's presence on the East Coast of the United States, the National Moroccan Tourism Office (ONMT) has launched an engaging roadshow, spotlighting the diverse tapestry of the country's tourism offerings. Spanning key cities like Miami, Washington, D.C., and New York, the ONMT seeks to enthrall American travelers with Morocco's rich landscapes and cultural heritage.
The roadshow kicked off in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday with an event steeped in authentic Moroccan charm, drawing dignitaries and media representatives alike. Youssef Amrani, the Kingdom's ambassador to the U.S., lauded Morocco's ancient culture and heritage, emphasizing the seamless blend of tradition and modernity that characterizes the nation.
"Morocco epitomizes a mosaic where age-old customs intertwine with contemporary allure," remarked Amrani, shining a spotlight on the country's natural beauty and renowned hospitality, positioning it as a premier tourist hotspot. He also emphasized Morocco's steadfast commitment to sustainable tourism and its open arms to global travelers.
Siham Fettouhi, ONMT's Director for North America, outlined the objectives of the promotional campaign, geared towards enhancing Morocco's visibility and commercial appeal, thereby solidifying its status as a top pick for American travelers. Fettouhi also hailed the inauguration of a direct flight between New York and Marrakech, operated by United Airlines, as a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral ties.
The roadshow functions as a platform for Moroccan professionals to engage with American distributors and media influencers, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships. Designed to immerse attendees in Moroccan culture, the event offers authentic experiences like traditional souks, ceremonial tea ceremonies, and culinary delights, all aimed at leaving a lasting impression and enticing travelers to experience Morocco firsthand.
According to ONMT statistics, American tourism to Morocco saw a remarkable surge in 2023, marking a 19% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019. With ambitions to attract one million tourists annually, Morocco is poised to cement its status as a must-visit destination for adventure-seeking travelers from the United States.
