U.S. Consulate in Casablanca strengthens visa teams amid rising demand

Casablanca – The U.S. Department of State has reinforced the staffing levels at the United States Consulate General in Casablanca in response to a sharp increase in visa applications, according to an official announcement by the diplomatic mission.

The measure aims to accommodate heightened demand expected during January and February 2026, a period during which thousands of additional visa interview appointments will be made available. The Consulate confirmed that expanded capacity is intended to reduce waiting times and improve the efficiency of the visa application process.

This surge in demand is largely attributed to preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026. With many Moroccan citizens planning to travel for tourism, business, or sporting events linked to the tournament, visa requests have increased significantly.

U.S. officials emphasized that the reinforcement of consular teams reflects ongoing efforts to facilitate legitimate travel while maintaining security standards. Applicants are encouraged to monitor official channels for appointment availability and updated visa information.
