Russian law enforcement officials have uncovered a significant illegal diamond operation in St. Petersburg, resulting in the seizure of over 450 diamonds and the arrest of two individuals, according to a statement from Ministry of Internal Affairs Spokesperson Irina Volk.

The suspects were apprehended while allegedly conducting an illicit diamond sale at an exhibition center along Petersburg Highway. The transaction under investigation was valued at 5.5 million rubles (approximately USD 56,748).

During their operation, authorities recovered substantial evidence, including more than 450 diamonds, communication devices, computer equipment, and significant cash amounts totaling over USD 22,000.
