Iraq reopens its airspace following regional de-escalation
Iraq announced on Monday the reopening of its airspace to all incoming and outgoing flights after a temporary closure linked to rising regional tensions. The decision was confirmed by the country's civil aviation authorities, which stated that air traffic operations would gradually return to normal across all Iraqi airports.
The reopening comes after Iran declared the end of its recent military operation against Israel, a development that has contributed to easing security concerns in the region. Iraqi aviation officials emphasized that they will continue to closely monitor the situation and assess any potential risks that could affect air navigation and passenger safety.
On Sunday evening, Iraqi authorities had ordered the closure of the country's airspace for a limited period as a precautionary measure following missile launches from Iran toward Israel. The move was intended to protect civilian aviation and reduce potential risks associated with military activities in the region.
The resumption of flights is expected to facilitate the movement of travelers and support commercial activities that depend on air transportation. Airlines and airport operators are now working to restore regular schedules while maintaining strict safety procedures.
Although the situation has stabilized for the moment, Iraqi authorities indicated that they remain vigilant and prepared to take additional measures if regional developments require further action.
