Germany sees slow economic recovery as energy prices weigh
Germany’s economic recovery is expected to remain weak and gradual, as high energy and commodity costs continue to pressure growth, according to the country’s economy ministry.
In its latest monthly report, the ministry indicated that the German economy is likely to expand only modestly in the coming months. It warned that industrial production is not expected to show strong growth, while demand in the labour market may remain subdued even during the summer period.
Officials also noted that ongoing geopolitical tensions, particularly in the Middle East, could add further uncertainty to the economic outlook. Rising energy prices are seen as a key factor limiting business activity and slowing down overall momentum in Europe’s largest economy.
Economists suggest that Germany’s recovery will depend heavily on global energy markets and the stability of supply chains, with any sustained increase in costs likely to delay a stronger rebound.
