Safouane Benzahra and Nael Haddani rewarded with professional deals at AS Monaco

AS Monaco has continued its commitment to developing young players by handing professional contracts to Safouane Benzahra and Nael Haddani, two members of the club’s 2008 generation.

The move rewards their progress within the Monaco Academy and marks an important transition from youth football to the professional environment. Both players joined the club in the summer of 2025 and initially became part of the U19 squad.

Arrivals from the Netherlands and France

Benzahra arrived from NAC Breda, while Haddani moved to Monaco after playing for ESC Montferrier. They were among six players recruited by the club for its U19 team ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Their first months in Monaco provided an opportunity to establish themselves within the club’s youth structure and compete at a high level against other European academies.

Haddani shines in the Netherlands

Nael Haddani quickly attracted attention during the Otten Innovation Cup 2025, an international U19 tournament held in the Netherlands.

Monaco reached the final and defeated Atlético de Madrid 3-1 to claim the trophy. Haddani played a prominent role throughout the competition and was subsequently named the tournament’s MVP.

The young player also finished among the tournament’s leading scorers with three goals. Benzahra contributed to Monaco’s campaign as well, finding the net during the competition.

Benzahra's international experience with Morocco

Born in Breda, Netherlands, Safouane Benzahra operates in midfield and has already gained international experience with Morocco's youth teams, including the U18 side.

His development at Monaco has continued through regular appearances for the Academy teams. His performances have also brought him closer to the senior squad, with the midfielder beginning to feature in the professional group this season.

A pathway toward the first team

Monaco's decision to promote the two youngsters reflects the club's established emphasis on giving Academy players opportunities to progress toward senior football.

Benzahra has continued to feature with the U19 team and has demonstrated his attacking ability, including a direct corner-kick goal against Montpellier.

For both players, the signing of their first professional contracts represents the latest step in a development process that began in youth football and now opens the door to greater involvement at senior level.
