El Jadida road accident: Prosecutor rejects alleged election-related motive
The public prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in El Jadida has rejected reports circulating online that sought to connect a road accident with an alleged electoral dispute involving a candidate.
The clarification follows the circulation of a video showing a road accident, accompanied by claims on social media and some online media outlets that the incident was linked to the supposed “elimination of a candidate.”
Prosecutor orders investigation into circulating claims
In an official statement, the King’s Prosecutor in El Jadida said the prosecution had ordered an investigation after the claims began circulating.
The initial findings, according to the statement, found no factual basis for the alleged connection with an electoral dispute. Authorities described the incident instead as a road accident involving a hit-and-run.
The prosecution therefore dismissed the interpretation that the footage was evidence of an incident connected to an electoral conflict.
Investigation remains ongoing
Despite the initial findings, the judicial investigation has not been closed. Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the accident and the events that followed.
The prosecutor said the appropriate legal measures would be taken once the investigation has established the relevant facts.
The case highlights the importance of verifying the context surrounding videos circulated online, particularly when unverified interpretations can quickly associate ordinary criminal or traffic incidents with sensitive electoral developments.
