Tangier Tech fire: Chinese-invested automotive facility suffers major material damage

A fire broke out Wednesday morning at a Chinese-backed industrial facility under construction in the Tangier Tech industrial zone, near Tangier, causing substantial material damage, according to local reports.

The blaze was reported at around 8 a.m. on September 23 at a plant intended to manufacture automotive equipment. The facility is part of the growing industrial ecosystem being developed in the Tangier Tech area, where international investors have established operations linked to Morocco’s automotive sector.

Fire brought under control

Emergency crews were dispatched to the site after the fire was detected. Firefighters succeeded in containing the blaze, preventing it from spreading further within the industrial area.
