A digitally crafted video envisioning Gaza as a luxurious tourist hub under the influence of former U.S. President Donald Trump has rapidly gone viral on social media. The 33-second clip, titled "Gaza 2025 – What’s Next?", presents a stark contrast between the war-torn present and an imagined future, featuring skyscrapers, beachfront resorts, and even a towering Trump statue.
Posted on Trump’s official social media accounts, the video accumulated over 15.4 million views on Instagram within hours. While some speculated a possible account breach, no official denial was issued. The AI-generated video seems to align with Trump’s previously stated vision of transforming Gaza into the “Riviera of the Middle East,” a project that would involve U.S. control over the territory and the relocation of its 2.4 million residents to Jordan and Egypt.
The fictional portrayal, which includes tech mogul Elon Musk savoring local cuisine and money flying through the air, has drawn international criticism. Arab nations, including Egypt and Jordan, have dismissed any plans for the forced displacement of Palestinians. Gaza residents also expressed outrage, calling the video culturally ignorant. Lawyer Manal Abu Seif emphasized that Gaza needs reconstruction, jobs, and freedom—not a playground for tourism and investment.
