China has announced the imposition of anti-dumping tariffs as high as 75% on plastic imports from the United States, the European Union, Taiwan, and Japan. This decision follows the conclusion of a government investigation into unfair pricing practices, according to a statement from China's Ministry of Commerce.

The new tariffs specifically target polyformaldehyde copolymer—a versatile plastic widely used in the production of automotive components, medical instruments, and household appliances. The ministry stated that the duties will range between 3.8% and 74.9%, and are effective immediately starting Monday.

This move comes shortly after a mutual agreement between Washington and Beijing to pause certain tariffs on each other’s goods for 90 days, offering a temporary reprieve in their ongoing trade conflict. Despite this, China continues to act against countries it accuses of dumping products into its markets.

Earlier in April, Beijing imposed anti-dumping duties on brandy imports from the European Union, affecting France’s key cognac industry.
