Three bidders compete to acquire iconic French glassmaker Duralex
The future of French glassware manufacturer Duralex has entered a new phase as three prospective buyers have formally submitted takeover bids, setting the stage for a competitive process aimed at preserving one of France's most recognizable industrial brands.
The list of candidates includes two French entrepreneurs alongside a Hong Kong-based investment company, reflecting both domestic and international interest in reviving the historic glassmaker.
International investor joins French contenders
While the two French bidders had already publicly expressed their interest, the identity of the third candidate remained undisclosed until sources familiar with the process revealed that the offer had been submitted by AA Investments, a Hong Kong-based company owned by French businessman Morteza Goshayeshi and members of his family.
The emergence of an overseas investor broadens the range of potential ownership scenarios for Duralex, whose products have become synonymous with durable glassware in households and commercial kitchens around the world.
Extended timetable for takeover process
The judicial administrator overseeing the restructuring has extended the deadline for submitting acquisition proposals until 11 September, providing additional time for interested parties to refine or present competing offers.
The extension suggests that the sale process remains open to further interest as stakeholders seek the strongest long-term solution for the company and its manufacturing operations.
Preserving an industrial landmark
Based in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, in central France's Loiret department, Duralex has long been regarded as one of the country's most recognizable industrial brands. Its tempered glass products have earned an international reputation for durability and have become a symbol of French manufacturing expertise.
The ongoing restructuring process is therefore being closely followed by employees, local authorities and industry observers, who view the company's future as significant not only for regional employment but also for the preservation of a historic manufacturing business.
As the bidding process continues, attention will focus on which proposal offers the most credible strategy for securing Duralex's long-term competitiveness while safeguarding production and jobs.
