British royal family gathers for Peter Phillips' wedding
Members of the British royal family gathered in the English countryside on Saturday to celebrate the wedding of Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne and the eldest grandson of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The private ceremony took place at All Saints' Church in Kemble, a village in south-west England, and brought together several senior members of the royal family. Among those attending were King Charles III and Queen Camilla, as well as Prince William and his wife Catherine, Princess of Wales.
Princess Anne, the sister of King Charles III, attended the ceremony alongside her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. Other royal relatives, including Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, were also present to mark the occasion.
Peter Phillips, a businessman and sports management executive, married Harriet Sperling, a paediatric nurse. Unlike some members of the royal family, Phillips does not carry a royal title and does not perform official royal duties, choosing instead to pursue a career in the private sector.
As the eldest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II, Phillips remains part of the wider royal family and is included in the line of succession to the British throne. However, his role has largely remained outside the public responsibilities associated with senior royals.
The wedding was held as a private family event, reflecting the couple’s preference for a more personal celebration. The gathering provided an opportunity for members of the royal family to come together for a joyful occasion amid a busy year of public engagements.
Phillips was previously married to Autumn Kelly. Their marriage ended in divorce in 2021. His wedding to Harriet Sperling marks a new chapter in his personal life and was celebrated by relatives and close friends in attendance.
