Google launches Gemini 3.7 Flash to accelerate AI coding and automation

Google has introduced Gemini 3.7 Flash, a new artificial intelligence model designed to support software development and increasingly autonomous digital workflows as the technology giant intensifies its competition with leading AI companies.

Developed by Google DeepMind, the new model is positioned as a faster and more affordable option for businesses building AI systems capable of planning tasks, using software tools and completing complex workflows with limited human intervention.

Google said Gemini 3.7 Flash delivers improved performance in programming-related tasks, including debugging, problem-solving and generating code suitable for use in professional environments. The model arrives only a few weeks after the previous Flash release, highlighting the rapid pace of development in the AI sector.

The company is also using pricing to encourage adoption. Gemini 3.7 Flash is being offered at an introductory rate of $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens through the end of the year, representing a significant reduction compared with the previous model’s original pricing.

The model is being made available through Gemini Spark, Google’s subscription-based AI agent service, to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra customers in more than 160 countries.

The launch comes as investors and technology analysts closely monitor Google’s progress in the increasingly competitive AI market. The company is facing strong competition from OpenAI and Anthropic, particularly in advanced AI assistants, coding tools and autonomous AI agents.

Google has also been making organizational changes within its artificial intelligence division. The company is placing greater emphasis on the Gemini family as it seeks to strengthen its position and accelerate the development of its next-generation models.

The company’s flagship Gemini model remains highly anticipated, with Google previously indicating that its more advanced version was being tested with partners. The timing of its release is being closely watched as competitors continue to improve their own frontier AI systems.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has defended the company’s AI strategy, arguing that Google remains well positioned to compete despite concerns about delays and increasing pressure from rivals.

With Gemini 3.7 Flash, Google is betting that a combination of lower costs, stronger coding capabilities and autonomous workflow features can help expand the use of its AI technology among developers and businesses.
