Disruptions in maritime traffic between Tarifa and Tanger due to adverse weather conditions
The maritime traffic for passengers between the Spanish port of Tarifa and Tanger has once again faced disruptions due to adverse weather conditions impacting the Strait of Gibraltar, as reported by the port authorities of the Bay of Algeciras.
All scheduled departures from Tarifa have been canceled, with the exception of the 8:00 PM sailing, which will proceed only if weather conditions improve, according to the same source.
Furthermore, services from Algeciras to Tanger Med are experiencing delays, though no cancellations have been reported at this time, as assured by the port authorities of Algeciras.
The Spanish National Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow alert, which remains in effect until noon, for the Strait of Gibraltar and several areas of the province of Cádiz, where rainfall of up to 40 liters per square meter is expected in certain locations.
Additionally, the coastline of the Strait is under meteorological vigilance for strong waves, with southwest winds reaching speeds of 80 km/h and swells potentially reaching four meters, according to Aemet.
