Police infrastructure modernization strengthens proximity and security services in Morocco

Morocco is continuing to modernize its police infrastructure as part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening proximity policing and diversifying security services across the country. The Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) has reported major progress in upgrading facilities, training structures, and operational capabilities during 2025.

One of the flagship projects is the upcoming inauguration of the new DGSN headquarters in Rabat, scheduled for the first half of 2026. The complex is designed to bring together all central departments within an integrated administrative and digital ecosystem, meeting advanced technical and security standards.

At the same time, investment in police training has been reinforced through the launch of the Higher Institute of Security Sciences in Ifrane. This academic institution aims to modernize police education, promote research and innovation, and encourage the exchange of expertise with regional and international partners.

Territorial security structures have also been strengthened to support urban expansion and improve responsiveness. Several police stations have been upgraded to provincial security districts, with increased staffing, logistics, and operational resources. New command and coordination centers equipped with advanced technologies have been deployed to improve emergency response and inter-agency cooperation.

In preparation for major international sporting events, including the Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco has expanded border security capacities, enhanced airport and port police services, and deployed smart surveillance systems in host cities. These efforts are complemented by the modernization of police vehicles, the use of alternative intervention tools, and the integration of multilingual elements into police communication.

Authorities underline that these reforms aim to improve public safety, ensure rapid response to citizens’ needs, and support sustainable development through modern, professional, and community-oriented policing.
