Morocco targets one million German tourists by 2025

Morocco is setting its sights on attracting one million German tourists by 2025, a goal underscored by the country's Ambassador to Germany, Zohour Alaoui, during a gala dinner in Berlin. This event, organized by the Agadir Souss-Massa Regional Tourism Council (CRT), coincided with the conclusion of the International Tourism Fair of Berlin (ITB) 2025.

Alaoui emphasized the significance of tourism as a key component of the strong ties between Morocco and Germany. She described tourism as a "lever" for enhancing friendship and fulfilling the aspirations of both nations. "Each German tourist who visits Morocco contributes to further strengthening the bonds of friendship that unite our two countries," Alaoui stated, highlighting the potential of tourism to foster cultural exchange and understanding.

The ambassador noted that Morocco has seen a notable increase in German tourist arrivals, with a 40% surge recorded in 2019. This growing interest in the Moroccan tourism market reflects the country's commitment to becoming a premier destination for German travelers.

Tourism is vital for Morocco's economy, accounting for 7.2% of the gross domestic product in 2024. Factors contributing to the sector's growth include Morocco's strategic location, economic stability, and a culture of openness and tolerance, supported by proactive government policies under King Mohammed VI.

The gala dinner brought together prominent figures from the Moroccan tourism sector, including Achraf Fayda, President of the Agadir Souss-Massa CRT, and Hamid Bentahar, President of the National Tourism Confederation (CNT). The ITB 2025 showcased tourism professionals from over 170 countries, with Morocco presenting its offerings at an expansive pavilion.

In conclusion, Morocco's ambitious goal of welcoming one million German tourists highlights the country's vibrant tourism potential and its dedication to strengthening international relationships through cultural and economic collaboration.
