Morocco's international road safety prize draws global ministerial praise at Marrakech conference
Ministers from multiple nations gathered in Marrakech on Wednesday to commend the Mohammed VI International Road Safety Prize, highlighting its significant contribution to worldwide efforts aimed at reducing road traffic fatalities.
The prize, unveiled during the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, exemplifies Morocco's dedication to protecting road users' safety and lives under King Mohammed VI's guidance. Ministers shared these sentiments during press statements following their meetings with Transport and Logistics Minister Abdessamad Kayouh.
Guinean Transport Minister Ousmane Gaoul Diallo emphasized that through this initiative, Morocco demonstrates its firm commitment to safeguarding road users' lives across Africa. He suggested the prize serves as a model for world leaders to prioritize road user protection and safety in their agendas.
"This prize represents a powerful gesture marking this major event hosted in Morocco," stated Diallo, noting that Morocco brings honor to Africa by hosting the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety.
Alva Browne, Permanent Secretary of Grenada's Ministry of Infrastructure, Physical Development, Public Utilities, Civil Aviation and Transportation, expressed gratitude to the Sovereign for establishing the prize, describing it as a highly positive initiative that will enhance global road safety efforts and protect more lives.
Browne's meeting with Minister Kayouh also provided an opportunity to explore potential transportation and road safety cooperation between Grenada and Morocco.
Uganda's Minister of Works and Transport, Edward Katumba-Wamala, praised King Mohammed VI's commitment to preserving human life, as demonstrated through the creation of this international prize. "This prize motivates us to spare no effort in protecting road users' lives," he affirmed.
