Zinedine Zidane reveals first members of his France coaching staff

The first outlines of Zinedine Zidane's coaching team with France have been unveiled, giving a clearer picture of the new era at the helm of Les Bleus.

The French Football Federation (FFF) officially announced the first appointments on Thursday, confirming several familiar names around the former France international.

David Bettoni named assistant coach

Zidane will be joined by David Bettoni, who has been appointed as his assistant.

The choice is unsurprising given the long-standing professional relationship between the two men. Bettoni has previously worked alongside Zidane during several stages of his coaching career, including during his successful spells with Real Madrid.

His presence is expected to provide continuity as Zidane begins his first tenure as France's head coach.

Fabien Barthez returns to the France setup

Another major appointment concerns the goalkeeping department.

Fabien Barthez, the former France goalkeeper and 1998 World Cup winner, will return to the national team as goalkeeping coach.

Barthez was a key figure in the France side that won the World Cup on home soil in 1998 and later lifted the European Championship in 2000. His return adds another link to one of the most successful periods in French football history.

His experience at international level will be particularly valuable as the new coaching staff begins working with the national team's goalkeepers.

Full staff to be announced in September

The FFF has not yet completed Zidane's coaching structure.

The federation said the final composition of the staff will be presented in September, meaning further appointments are expected before the new setup is fully established.

The first announcements nevertheless provide an early indication of Zidane's approach: trusted figures from his coaching career alongside personalities deeply connected with the history of the French national team.

The next stage will be to translate that structure into results on the pitch as Zidane prepares to take charge of Les Bleus.
