Easyjet launches its first African base in Marrakech menara

At Marrakech Menara Airport, a new chapter in regional aviation has begun as easyJet officially inaugurated its first operational base on the African continent. The launch, supported by Moroccan National Tourist Office, reflects Morocco’s growing appeal as a global travel destination.

The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Achraf Fayda and Kenton Jarvis, highlighting the strategic importance of this partnership. Officials described the new base as a major operational milestone expected to boost the country’s tourism capacity and connectivity.

With three aircraft stationed in Marrakech, the base is projected to offer up to four million seats within its first year. This significant increase in capacity aims to strengthen air links between Morocco and key European markets, supporting the steady rise in international arrivals.

The expansion also includes the launch of six new routes, bringing the total number of connections between Morocco and its main source markets to 58. Starting in winter 2026, new direct flights will connect Marrakech with Prague, Newcastle, and Zurich. Additional routes scheduled for spring 2026 will link Nantes to Essaouira, Bordeaux to Agadir, and Birmingham to Agadir.

At the same time, several existing routes from Marrakech—such as those to Lille, Strasbourg, and Hamburg—will operate year-round, ensuring consistent connectivity and reinforcing Morocco’s position as a leading destination in the global tourism landscape.
