NamX secures European patent and advances hydrogen industrialization
NamX has reached a major milestone in the development of its hydrogen technology after obtaining a European patent covering its hydrogen capsule system, a move expected to accelerate the industrial phase of the project.
The announcement was made by the company’s founder and chief executive officer, Faouzi Annajah, who described the patent approval as the result of four years of research, administrative procedures, and significant international investment aimed at protecting the company’s innovation.
The patent, officially registered across Europe, strengthens NamX’s intellectual property rights and confirms the company’s ownership of the technology developed for hydrogen storage and distribution through removable capsules.
NamX aims to make hydrogen energy more accessible for consumers by offering a modular and flexible solution, particularly for the automotive industry. Company officials believe the technology could also be adapted for other industrial sectors seeking cleaner energy alternatives.
The startup is now focusing on the industrialization phase in order to transform the innovation into a commercially viable product. According to the company, future development plans may include opening capital to new investors to support manufacturing, commercialization, and technological expansion.
One of NamX’s most ambitious projects is the HUV (Hydrogen Utility Vehicle), a hydrogen-powered prototype presented in 2023 to HM king Mohammed VI. The vehicle was developed in partnership with the Italian design company Pininfarina, while part of the interior design was created by Moroccan talents.
The HUV model combines a central hydrogen tank with six removable capsules designed to extend driving range and simplify refueling within a few minutes. Supporters of the project consider this concept an innovative approach that could help accelerate the transition toward sustainable transportation.
The initiative also reflects Morocco’s growing interest in renewable energy and green technologies, particularly as countries around the world seek alternatives to fossil fuels and invest in environmentally friendly mobility solutions.
