Authorities intensify livestock supply monitoring ahead of Eid al-Adha

Authorities in Morocco have stepped up oversight of livestock markets as Eid al-Adha approaches, focusing on the availability of sheep and goats and the balance between supply and demand. A coordination meeting held via video conference brought together officials from the ministries of the Interior and Agriculture, alongside regional representatives and sector stakeholders, to assess market conditions and prepare for the religious holiday period.

The discussions centered on current livestock availability and the need to anticipate consumer demand in the days leading up to Eid al-Adha. Officials reviewed existing measures designed to stabilize supply chains and ensure that distribution networks can respond efficiently to increased seasonal pressure. Particular attention was given to reinforcing coordination between national and local authorities.

Authorities also emphasized the importance of strengthening market supervision through regular inspections in the period preceding the celebration. Plans include expanding designated points of sale and maintaining strict monitoring of transactions to ensure adequate supply levels. These measures aim to reduce potential disruptions and improve market organization during peak demand.

Animal health and herd sustainability were also addressed during the meeting. Officials highlighted the role of veterinary controls in safeguarding livestock quality and supporting breeders in maintaining herd resilience. According to the indicators presented, current supply levels of sheep and goats are considered sufficient, pointing to stable market conditions and a smooth run-up to Eid al-Adha.
