Morocco ceramic industry pact aims to restructure sector
The ceramic industry in Morocco has entered a new phase of organization following a partnership agreement signed in Casablanca between the Association of Professional Ceramic Industries and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The agreement was formalized during the first national day dedicated to the sector. The signature took place on a ceramic tile, reflecting the industry’s link to local craftsmanship and its ambition to align with higher industrial standards.
The partnership sets out a roadmap toward 2030 focused on restructuring the sector and improving its competitiveness. It prioritizes energy efficiency, innovation, product quality, and market organization. It also aims to strengthen coordination between public institutions and private operators to support long-term sector growth and industrial modernization.
Industry stakeholders, including manufacturers, architects, designers, and technical experts, took part in discussions on the main challenges facing the sector. Participants examined pressure from imported products and assessed export opportunities for Moroccan ceramic goods. The debate also highlighted red clay ceramic, a segment often overlooked despite its technical performance and aesthetic potential.
The roadmap encourages producers to accelerate modernization efforts to improve positioning in higher-value markets. It also stresses the need to consolidate existing achievements and reinforce industrial capacity in order to support sustainable growth and expand international competitiveness.
