Pigeons delay delta air lines flight, creating chaos and laughter

A delta air lines flight from minneapolis to madison encountered an extraordinary disruption when two pigeons unexpectedly boarded the aircraft, leading to delays and a mix of confusion and amusement among passengers and crew. This unusual incident occurred on delta flight 2348, an airbus a220 carrying 119 passengers and five crew members, which was set to depart from minneapolis–saint paul international airport.

Shortly after boarding, one pigeon was spotted flitting through the cabin, prompting the pilot to announce the unexpected situation and return the plane to the gate. Baggage handlers were summoned onboard and successfully removed the bird, a moment met with applause from passengers, including a young girl who eagerly inquired if she could pet the pigeon.

However, the ordeal did not conclude there. As the plane began its taxi towards the runway, a second pigeon emerged, further exacerbating the disruption. This prompted the pilot to contact air traffic control and return to the gate yet again. The controller at the control tower expressed surprise, noting it was a first for him to manage such a situation, while the pilot remarked it was the second time he had faced it that day.

Passengers documented the chaos on their devices, capturing a man attempting to catch one of the pigeons with his jacket, amidst reactions of astonishment and even screams from fellow travelers. Fortunately, both birds were safely and unharmed removed by ground staff.

Eventually, the flight departed and arrived in madison approximately one hour later than scheduled. Delta air lines extended an apology for the delay, commending the careful actions of their staff and customers in ensuring the safe removal of the birds prior to departure.

This peculiar episode has garnered attention for its rarity and the lighthearted moments it generated amidst the disruption, with some passengers jokingly suggesting that the pigeons were merely in search of snacks on a flight too brief to offer beverage service.

This incident underscores the unpredictable challenges that can arise in air travel and the swift responses required from airline personnel to safeguard passenger safety and comfort.
