Morocco's Postal Service Shows Solidarity with Palestine Through Special Stamp
Barid Al-Maghrib, Morocco's postal service group, has unveiled a special postage stamp titled “With Gaza” to express solidarity with the Palestinian people, who continue to endure the devastating effects of the ongoing Israeli military aggression. The launch of the stamp coincided with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, observed on Friday. According to a statement from Barid Al-Maghrib, the initiative demonstrates Morocco’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.
This special stamp is part of a broader collaborative effort among Arab postal operators, conceived during the 27th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information in Abu Dhabi on January 18, 2024. The 2024 common Arab stamp was designed to foster a global message of unity and support for the Palestinian people.
The design of the stamp was selected through an art competition that drew submissions from various Arab nations. The winning artwork poignantly depicts the gaze of a child adorned in a Keffiyeh, symbolizing both the enduring hope and the ongoing struggle for peace.
The Israeli war on Gaza, which has claimed the lives of thousands of innocent civilians over the past year, continues to wreak havoc. The conflict persists despite global calls for a ceasefire. Attacks have spread throughout Gaza, affecting residential areas, displaced persons' camps, and areas marked as safe zones. The current death toll has surpassed 44,400, with tens of thousands more wounded, while ceasefire negotiations remain stalled.
Despite some regions, such as Lebanon, experiencing a cessation of hostilities, the Palestinian plight continues to be overshadowed by a lack of sufficient international attention, even as the violence rages on in Gaza.
