Morocco's Atlantic Initiative Garners Peruvian Acclaim, Solidifying Diplomatic Ties

Moroccan and Peruvian officials have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, emphasizing trade, economic cooperation, and technical exchanges in sectors such as education and culture. The recent seventh edition of political consultations between the two nations, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, showcased a shared perspective on regional and global issues.

Central to the discussions was Morocco's ambitious Atlantic Initiative, introduced by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in November. This initiative, aimed at transforming the southern city of Dakhla into an economic hub, fostering development in the Sahel region, and attracting foreign investment, received enthusiastic support from Peruvian authorities.

Peru's Deputy Foreign Minister, Ignacio Higueras Harry, leading his country's delegation, hailed the Atlantic Initiative as a visionary strategy promising cross-continental socio-economic progress. "We wholeheartedly commend this bold initiative and its potential to drive sustainable development across the region," he remarked.

The consultations marked a significant milestone in the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Morocco and Peru, culminating in the formulation of a comprehensive multi-sector roadmap. This roadmap outlines collaborative initiatives slated for execution throughout 2024, focusing on sectoral cooperation in trade, economy, education, culture, water resources, agricultural research, science, technology, and tourism.

Morocco's delegation, led by Fouad Yazough, Ambassador and Director-General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, included Amin El-Choudary, Morocco's Ambassador to Peru, and Nezha El-Taher, Director of American Affairs.

As the consultations concluded, both nations reiterated their commitment to promoting global peace, stability, and sustainable development. The alignment of visions and the endorsement of Morocco's Atlantic Initiative underscore the deepening bonds between the two nations, paving the way for enhanced cooperation and mutual prosperity.
