Casa-Sud Railway Station: Casablanca’s New Multimodal Transport Hub Takes Shape
One year after construction officially began, the future Casa-Sud railway station is emerging as one of the major infrastructure projects expected to reshape mobility across southern Casablanca. Designed as more than a conventional railway terminal, the facility is being developed as a multimodal transport hub intended to connect rail services with the city’s wider public transport network.
The project was officially launched on September 24, 2025, in Hay Hassani, as part of the railway development program dedicated to Greater Casablanca and launched under the leadership of King Mohammed VI. The National Railway Office (ONCF) has set a 24-month construction period for the station.
A large-scale station built around connectivity
Casa-Sud is being developed on a substantial site, with the main station building covering approximately 22,000 square meters. The project also includes 30,000 square meters dedicated to parking facilities, providing around 1,000 spaces, alongside 38,000 square meters of external development.
The railway complex will feature six platforms and ten tracks, allowing it to accommodate a broad range of passenger services. Al Boraq high-speed trains, long-distance services, regional trains and suburban services are all expected to operate through the future station.
This combination is designed to give Casa-Sud a strategic role within Casablanca’s railway network rather than limiting it to a single category of passenger traffic.
A multimodal gateway for southern Casablanca
The station’s most significant feature may be its integration with other forms of urban transportation.
Casa-Sud is planned to connect directly with the road network and several public transport systems, including the tramway, bus rapid transit (BRT), conventional buses and taxis. The objective is to make transfers between different modes of transport quicker and more convenient for passengers.
Such integration could strengthen links between southern districts and the rest of the metropolitan area while reducing the fragmentation that often characterizes journeys involving several transport networks.
By bringing rail and urban mobility services together within the same transport hub, the project is intended to support the continued expansion of Casablanca and the growing mobility needs of its population.
A MAD 1.3 billion investment
The overall investment in Casa-Sud is estimated at 1.3 billion Moroccan dirhams, with approximately 950 million dirhams allocated to construction works.
The scale of the investment reflects the strategic position assigned to the project within Greater Casablanca’s broader railway modernization program. The initiative includes three major next-generation railway stations: Casa-Sud, the future Mohammed V International Airport station and the station planned to serve the Grand Stade Hassan II.
Each of the three projects has been assigned a 24-month implementation timeframe.
Part of Casablanca’s wider transport transformation
Casa-Sud is therefore being built at a time when Casablanca is expanding its transport infrastructure on several fronts. Its purpose extends beyond adding another railway station to the metropolitan network: the project is intended to create a point where high-speed, regional, suburban and urban transport services can converge.
Once operational, the station is expected to strengthen the southern gateway to Casablanca and improve connections between railway passengers and the city’s public transport systems.
With construction now well underway, the emerging infrastructure offers a first concrete indication of how the Greater Casablanca railway program is being translated into new mobility facilities. The coming months will determine whether the project remains on course for delivery within the announced 24-month schedule.
