Royal Air Maroc to fully refurbish cabins across seven Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners
Royal Air Maroc is preparing a major upgrade of its long-haul passenger experience, with the national carrier set to completely refurbish the cabins of seven Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners.
The agreement with Boeing was signed on Thursday, October 8, 2026, during the Marrakech Air Show. The project targets the airline’s seven Boeing 787-8 aircraft acquired between 2014 and 2016, bringing their interiors closer to the standards of the newer aircraft now joining the Royal Air Maroc fleet.
A unified cabin standard across the fleet
The refurbishment comes as Royal Air Maroc’s fleet has expanded to 71 aircraft. Naoual Ait Hammou, the airline’s director of air operations, said the initiative is designed to create greater consistency between the older Dreamliners and the company’s more recently delivered aircraft.
The operation will focus on the passenger cabin, with the existing seats replaced by next-generation models designed to provide more space and improve overall comfort. The onboard entertainment system will also be upgraded as part of the modernization program.
For passengers travelling on long-haul routes, where flights can last many hours, these changes are expected to have a direct impact on the travel experience.
New interiors for long-haul operations
The seven Boeing 787-8 aircraft concerned by the project are used for long-distance international services, including routes capable of connecting Morocco with destinations as far away as Beijing.
Royal Air Maroc intends to equip the refurbished cabins according to international specifications, with particular attention to passenger comfort and onboard services. The objective is not simply to replace individual components, but to bring the overall cabin environment closer to the standards introduced on the airline’s newer aircraft.
The project therefore represents an effort to modernize part of the carrier’s long-haul fleet without replacing the aircraft themselves.
Starlink connectivity to accompany the refurbishment
The cabin overhaul will coincide with another major upgrade: the introduction of Starlink internet connectivity on the aircraft concerned.
According to Naoual Ait Hammou, the activation of the satellite-based internet service is planned alongside the cabin modernization. The move would give passengers access to improved onboard connectivity while Royal Air Maroc simultaneously upgrades seating and entertainment systems.
The combination of redesigned cabins and internet access is expected to strengthen the airline’s long-haul product as it continues to modernize its fleet.
Royal Air Maroc’s Dreamliner fleet
Royal Air Maroc currently operates 13 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The fleet consists of seven Boeing 787-8 aircraft and six Boeing 787-9s.
The refurbishment of the seven Boeing 787-8s will therefore bring the entire 787-8 subfleet into a more consistent cabin configuration, while supporting the airline’s broader effort to raise onboard standards across its expanding fleet.
