Morocco's football governing bodies are in a race against the clock to conclude the ongoing domestic competitions before the June 15th deadline set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This ultimatum, aimed at finalizing the lists of clubs participating in the upcoming continental interclub tournaments, has added a sense of urgency to the proceedings.

The CAF Competitions Committee has mandated that all affiliated federations must submit their respective lists of qualified teams for the prestigious CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup by June 15th. Failure to meet this deadline could potentially jeopardize Moroccan clubs' participation in these prestigious continental competitions.

For the Moroccan National Professional Football League (LNFP), the task at hand is daunting. With only a few weeks remaining, the league must navigate through a tight schedule to conclude the Botola Pro Inwi D1 league and the semifinals and final of the prestigious Throne Cup 2023, a qualifying tournament for the CAF Confederation Cup.

While AS FAR and Raja Casablanca have secured their spots in the CAF Champions League, the battle for the CAF Confederation Cup places remains fierce. Traditionally, the Throne Cup winner and the third-placed team in the Botola Pro Inwi D1 earn the coveted Confederation Cup berths. However, this season's unique circumstances could lead to a twist in the qualification process.

If AS FAR and Raja Casablanca were to meet in the Throne Cup final, a scenario that would render the Throne Cup qualification spot redundant, the two Confederation Cup places might be awarded to the third and fourth-placed teams in the Botola Pro Inwi D1 standings.

Consequently, the LNFP finds itself in a race against time, needing to schedule the final matchday of the Botola Pro Inwi D1 and the Throne Cup semifinals before the looming June 15th deadline. While the Throne Cup final could potentially be scheduled beyond this date if the finalists have already secured their CAF Champions League berths, the league and cup fixtures leading up to that point must be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

The urgency stems from Morocco's tumultuous participation in the previous editions of the CAF interclub competitions. In the CAF Champions League, AS FAR exited in the preliminary round, while Wydad Casablanca bowed out at the group stage. Meanwhile, in the CAF Confederation Cup, Renaissance Berkane reached the final before falling to Zamalek in Cairo.

As the clock ticks, the LNFP finds itself in a race against time, navigating a complex logistical challenge while ensuring Moroccan football's representation on the continental stage remains intact. The coming weeks will undoubtedly test the organizational mettle of the governing bodies as they strive to meet CAF's demands and uphold the nation's footballing aspirations.
