Israel has not accepted US-backed Gaza proposal, Netanyahu says
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that Israel has not accepted a United States-backed proposal concerning the future of Gaza, emphasizing that discussions with Washington remain ongoing and that Israeli officials have submitted their own amendments to the draft plan.
The comments come as diplomatic efforts continue to seek a framework for ending hostilities and establishing long-term security arrangements in Gaza following months of conflict.
Israel reviewing US proposal
In a video statement released on his social media accounts, Netanyahu said the proposal presented by the administration of US President Donald Trump had not been formally approved by Israel.
According to the prime minister, the American side believes it could secure the complete disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of Gaza as part of a broader agreement.
Netanyahu said Israel is examining that possibility but stressed that the document received from Washington does not represent Israel's position.
"We received a draft, but we did not accept it," he said, adding that Israeli officials had returned the proposal with comments and requested changes.
Security conditions remain central
The Israeli leader reiterated that any future withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza would be linked to the complete disarmament of Hamas, a condition that has consistently been presented by his government as essential to any lasting settlement.
The reported discussions reflect continuing negotiations between Israeli and US officials over the political and security framework that could govern Gaza after the conflict.
Diplomatic efforts continue
The exchange highlights that negotiations remain active, with both governments continuing to discuss the terms of a possible agreement rather than announcing a finalized plan.
Any future arrangement would likely require agreement on issues including security guarantees, governance, humanitarian access and reconstruction, alongside broader regional diplomatic efforts.
While Washington continues to support negotiations, Netanyahu's latest remarks indicate that significant differences remain before any proposal can be formally adopted.
