Global coffee prices climb to six-month high amid supply concerns

Coffee prices rose sharply in July, reaching their highest levels in six months as adverse weather conditions, strong global demand, and ongoing supply chain disruptions continued to pressure international agricultural markets.

Market data showed that Robusta coffee futures increased by around 9% compared with the previous month, while Arabica futures posted an even stronger monthly gain of more than 16%, with both varieties reaching their highest prices since January 2026.

The rally was not limited to coffee. Cocoa prices also recorded significant growth during the same period, reflecting broader volatility across global agricultural commodity markets. Industry analysts attribute these increases to unfavorable weather in major producing countries, concerns over crop yields, rising transportation costs, and persistent logistical challenges affecting international trade.

Coffee-producing regions have experienced irregular rainfall, higher temperatures, and other climate-related disruptions that have affected harvest expectations. At the same time, resilient consumer demand has continued to tighten available supplies, adding upward pressure to prices.

Economists note that fluctuations in agricultural commodity markets are influenced by a combination of production conditions, global demand, currency movements, and geopolitical developments. While higher prices may benefit some producers, they also increase costs for manufacturers, retailers, and consumers worldwide.

Market participants are expected to closely monitor weather patterns, export volumes, and harvest forecasts over the coming months, as these factors will play a key role in determining whether coffee prices remain elevated or begin to stabilize.
