Moroccan Authorities Uncover Multinational Cocaine Trafficking Scheme

In a major drug bust, Moroccan security forces in Tangier are investigating an audacious attempt to smuggle over 27 kilograms of cocaine into the country. The illicit shipment, which originated in Brazil, was headed to Greece when customs officials at the Tangier Mediterranean port received a tip-off about its suspicious contents.

Acting quickly on this intelligence, a team of inspectors conducted a thorough search of the maritime container. They made a startling discovery: 25 bags containing a white, powdery substance, along with a satellite positioning device, an indication of sophisticated international drug trafficking operations.

Laboratory analysis confirmed that the substance was cocaine, totaling a staggering 27 kilograms, with an additional 400 grams found in the shipment. The significant volume of the haul underscores the boldness of the smugglers and the seriousness of the threat posed by transnational narcotics cartels.

A high-ranking security official announced that the Moroccan National Central Bureau has activated international cooperation channels to trace the origins of the seized drugs and identify the masterminds behind this smuggling attempt. The investigation promises to leave no stone unturned in its pursuit of justice.

This recent bust follows another major drug seizure in Al Hoceima, northern Morocco, where police confiscated an astounding 5 tons and 345 kilograms of cannabis resin from rocky beaches and fishing boats just days before. These back-to-back busts highlight Morocco's unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and protecting its borders.

Last year alone, Moroccan authorities seized an impressive 81 tons and 175 kilograms of cannabis resin, as well as nearly 2 tons of cocaine, as part of their relentless crackdown on illicit drug operations. As the investigation into the Tangier bust continues, the nation's resolve to dismantle these networks and bring the perpetrators to justice remains strong.
