Italian companies target Morocco’s expanding glass manufacturing sector
A delegation of Italian companies specializing in glass processing technologies visited Casablanca from May 4 to May 7 as part of an economic mission aimed at strengthening industrial cooperation between Morocco and Italy. The initiative was organized by ITA – ICE Agenzia in partnership with GIMAV to support the expansion of Italian industrial technologies in the Moroccan market.
The mission focused on promoting advanced equipment used in flat glass and hollow glass manufacturing, while creating opportunities for direct partnerships with Moroccan operators. Italian officials view Morocco as a strategic industrial platform due to its growing manufacturing ecosystem, expanding infrastructure projects and increasing demand for construction materials and industrial processing solutions.
A key meeting took place on May 5 in Casablanca, bringing together representatives from Moroccan and Italian business institutions, including the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Casablanca-Settat. Participants discussed export support mechanisms, industrial investment opportunities and technological cooperation. The program also included B2B meetings, presentations from sector professionals and visits to Moroccan industrial facilities.
Fourteen Italian companies affiliated with GIMAV participated in the mission, presenting machinery and automation systems designed for modern glass transformation processes. Industry representatives emphasized the growing importance of energy-efficient production technologies and precision manufacturing solutions as demand rises across construction, automotive and packaging sectors.
The initiative reflects broader economic ties between Morocco and Italy, particularly in manufacturing and industrial modernization. Moroccan authorities have intensified efforts to attract foreign industrial investment in recent years, positioning the country as a regional production hub connected to European and African markets. Italian small and medium-sized enterprises increasingly see Morocco as an entry point for long-term expansion across North Africa.
Business leaders involved in the mission said the discussions opened the door to future joint ventures, equipment supply agreements and technical partnerships that could strengthen Morocco’s industrial glass sector while expanding the international footprint of Italian manufacturers.
