Morocco and Ecuador deepen trade and investment ties in Rabat
Morocco and Ecuador moved to strengthen their diplomatic and economic cooperation during high-level talks held in Rabat between Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Ecuadorian minister Luis Alberto Jaramillo, who oversees production, foreign trade, investments and fisheries. The meeting reflected a shared effort to expand bilateral relations and create new channels for economic collaboration between the two countries.
The discussions focused on reinforcing long-term partnerships in sectors considered strategic for both economies. Officials examined opportunities linked to agriculture, agribusiness, energy development and fertilizer production, areas where Morocco has built a strong industrial presence in recent years. The two sides also discussed ways to improve commercial exchanges and attract investment flows capable of supporting industrial growth and export diversification.

Port infrastructure and logistics networks were also placed at the center of the talks. Morocco continues to position itself as a major trade and logistics gateway between Africa, Europe and Latin America through large-scale infrastructure projects and expanding port capacity. Ecuador, meanwhile, is seeking to strengthen its international trade routes and diversify economic partnerships beyond traditional regional markets.
The meeting in Rabat forms part of a broader Moroccan strategy aimed at expanding economic diplomacy with Latin American countries. Morocco has intensified efforts in recent years to develop partnerships focused on food security, renewable energy, industrial manufacturing and maritime connectivity. For Ecuador, closer ties with Morocco could open access to new African and Mediterranean markets while supporting cooperation in sectors linked to exports, fisheries and agricultural transformation.
Both governments signaled their intention to continue discussions through concrete economic initiatives and future investment projects. The talks highlighted a mutual interest in building stable commercial relations based on industrial cooperation, logistics development and stronger institutional coordination.
