Lithuania seeks US cooperation in trafficking probe linked to Epstein case
Lithuania is preparing to request assistance from the United States in an ongoing investigation into suspected human trafficking activities potentially linked to Jeffrey Epstein.
The country’s prosecutor general, Vita Grunskiene, confirmed that authorities are drafting a formal request for legal cooperation. The move reflects the growing importance of cross-border collaboration in complex criminal cases involving multiple jurisdictions.
According to officials, investigators have already interviewed around 20 individuals as part of the inquiry. However, no charges have been filed so far, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence.
Prosecutors have also encouraged potential victims or witnesses to come forward, emphasizing the need for public cooperation to advance the case. Human trafficking investigations often depend on testimonies and international coordination to uncover networks that operate across borders.
The case highlights broader challenges in addressing transnational crime, where legal systems must work together to ensure accountability. Cooperation between Lithuania and the United States could play a key role in clarifying the scope of the alleged activities and identifying those responsible.
As investigations continue, the situation underscores the importance of international legal frameworks and information sharing in tackling global criminal networks.
