Italy highlights Morocco as a key partner in Africa
Italy’s Minister for Relations with Parliament, Luca Ciriani, emphasized Morocco’s importance as a key partner for Italy in Africa. Speaking in Rome on Thursday, he highlighted the strategic role Morocco plays within the Mattei Plan, an Italian initiative aimed at strengthening partnerships with the African continent in various sectors.
During a meeting with the Moroccan Ambassador to Italy, Youssef Balla, the Italian minister noted Morocco’s geostrategic location and regional expertise in supporting the Mattei Plan. He reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to the success of this ambitious initiative, which seeks to promote African development.
Ambassador Balla, in his remarks, highlighted Morocco’s central role in Mediterranean institutions, particularly under the leadership of King Mohammed VI. He also reiterated Morocco’s commitment to fostering stability, cooperation, and sustainable development in the region, working closely with its partners, including Italy.
The two officials also discussed ways to enhance the strategic partnership between Rabat and Rome, with a focus on parliamentary cooperation and Morocco’s active role in the Mediterranean. They emphasized the importance of this strategic partnership, which spans areas such as politics, economics, culture, and security, and stressed the need to strengthen and capitalize on their robust and multidimensional bilateral relations.
Additionally, they explored further opportunities for strengthening parliamentary ties, including the exchange of best practices and organizing high-level visits between the two countries' ministries.
