Israel issues health warning over ‘Al-Tayebat’ diet system

Israel's Ministry of Health has issued a public warning against relying on the Al-Tayebat diet system as a substitute for conventional medical treatment, urging people to seek professional medical advice before making significant changes to their diet or prescribed therapies.

In an official statement, health authorities cautioned that the diet, which has gained popularity through social media and online platforms, is not supported by sufficient scientific evidence to justify replacing evidence-based medical care. Officials stressed that discontinuing prescribed medications in favor of unverified dietary approaches could lead to serious health complications, particularly for individuals living with chronic illnesses.

Health experts emphasized that balanced nutrition plays an important role in maintaining overall well-being, but dietary plans should complement—not replace—medical treatment. They encouraged patients to consult qualified healthcare professionals before adopting restrictive eating programs or alternative health practices.

The Al-Tayebat diet was developed by the late Egyptian physician Diaa El Awady, who categorized foods into different groups and promoted the program as a holistic approach to improving health. While the system attracted a large following across the Arab world, it also generated significant criticism from many medical professionals, who argued that several of its claims lacked robust clinical evidence.

Public health authorities in different countries have increasingly warned about the growing influence of health advice shared through social media without scientific validation. Experts note that misinformation surrounding nutrition and alternative therapies can discourage patients from seeking appropriate medical care or adhering to prescribed treatments.

Medical organizations continue to recommend that individuals base healthcare decisions on evidence-based medicine and consult licensed physicians or registered dietitians when considering major dietary changes. They also stress that nutrition should be tailored to each person's medical condition, lifestyle, and individual needs.

The warning reflects broader global efforts by health authorities to combat medical misinformation and promote safe, scientifically supported healthcare practices while encouraging the public to verify health-related information through reliable medical sources.
