Mustapha Lakhsem, president of the Imouzzer Kandar commune and newly elected member of Morocco’s House of Representatives for Sefrou, is mourning the death of his father.

Lakhsem announced the loss on Sunday, October 4, through his official Instagram account. He shared a photograph of himself with his late father and accompanied it with a brief personal message expressing his grief and affection.

The announcement quickly prompted messages of sympathy from social media users, who conveyed their condolences to the newly elected parliamentarian and his family.

A personal loss after an election victory

The bereavement comes only days after Lakhsem secured a seat in the House of Representatives in the September 23 legislative elections. Running under the banner of the Democratic and Social Movement (MDS), he emerged at the top of the Sefrou constituency's results, marking his move from local government into national politics.

His parliamentary victory followed a political trajectory that had already established him as a prominent local figure in Imouzzer Kandar. Before entering politics, Lakhsem was known internationally as a kickboxing champion before taking on responsibilities in local public affairs.

Condolences from his supporters

The announcement of his father's death has generated an outpouring of sympathy online, with users and supporters offering words of comfort during a difficult moment for the politician and his family.

The loss comes at a significant turning point in Lakhsem's public career, just as he prepares to begin his first term as a member of Parliament following his election in Sefrou.

For now, the political developments surrounding his recent election have been overshadowed by a deeply personal bereavement, as Lakhsem pays tribute to his father and receives condolences from those who have followed his career.
