ISO releases 2026 quality management standard in Arabic
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has announced the publication of the 2026 edition of its internationally recognized quality management standard, ISO 9001, together with an official Arabic-language version.
The release is intended to make technical knowledge and internationally recognized quality management practices more accessible to organizations, professionals and specialists across the Arab-speaking world. The availability of the standard in Arabic is expected to facilitate its use by businesses and institutions seeking to strengthen their quality management systems.
ISO 9001 provides a framework that organizations can use to establish, maintain and improve quality management processes. It is applicable across a wide range of sectors and is designed to help organizations consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements while supporting continuous improvement.
The 2026 edition follows the periodic review of the previous version, published in 2015. The updated standard introduces changes aimed at making its requirements clearer and more practical for organizations operating in increasingly complex business environments.
Among the areas receiving greater attention are leadership, organizational quality culture, ethical conduct, and the management of risks and opportunities. The revision also seeks to improve compatibility with other management system standards, helping organizations integrate different frameworks into their broader management structures.
The development of ISO 9001 is overseen by ISO's technical committee responsible for quality management systems, ISO/TC 176/SC 2. The committee brings together experts involved in developing and maintaining international guidance on quality management.
The Arabic edition represents an additional step toward expanding access to international standards in the region. By providing the updated requirements in Arabic, ISO is seeking to reduce language barriers and support wider adoption of structured quality management practices among organizations operating in Arab markets.
For companies, public institutions and professionals, the revised standard provides an updated reference for reviewing existing quality processes and adapting them to evolving organizational, operational and market conditions.
