Morocco gains importance in DHL’s global logistics strategy
Morocco is gaining greater importance in DHL’s global logistics strategy, with the international logistics group identifying the country as a priority market under its “Geographic Tailwinds” initiative.
The announcement was made during the 2026 Tangier Logistics Days, where DHL included Morocco among a limited group of high-growth economies expected to benefit from major changes in global trade flows and international supply chains.
According to DHL, Morocco’s strategic position between Europe and sub-Saharan Africa, combined with its expanding logistics infrastructure, industrial base and skilled workforce, is strengthening its role as a regional platform for trade, investment and supply-chain operations.
Marie Oxley, vice president of marketing and sales for DHL Global Forwarding Middle East and Africa, said the decision reflects changes the company is observing in the Moroccan market. She pointed to the country’s geographical position, industrial development and logistics capabilities as factors that could allow Morocco to benefit from the reorganization of global trade routes and investment flows.
The shift comes as international companies increasingly seek to make their supply chains more resilient by diversifying sourcing locations, reducing dependence on individual markets and moving production closer to major consumer centers.
Morocco’s industrial expansion has reinforced its attractiveness in this context, particularly in automotive manufacturing, aerospace, life sciences, healthcare, food processing and agriculture. These sectors have contributed to the country’s integration into international production networks and its growing links with European markets.
DHL has also continued to expand its operations in Morocco after nearly four decades of activity in the country. The group currently employs more than 400 logistics specialists across its various operations and provides services including air and ocean freight, express delivery and contract logistics.
The company’s focus on Morocco reflects the country’s growing role as a logistics link between European and African markets. As global companies reassess production and distribution networks, Morocco is seeking to capitalize on its infrastructure, industrial capacity and geographic position to attract additional investment and strengthen its place in international supply chains.
