Iran threatens regional infrastructure after renewed tensions with the United States
Iran has issued a sharp warning that it could target critical infrastructure across the Middle East if the United States carries out threats to strike Iranian infrastructure, as regional tensions continue to escalate.
In a statement attributed to Iran’s Joint Armed Forces Command, military officials warned that any attack on the country’s strategic facilities would trigger a powerful response against infrastructure throughout the region. The statement described the potential retaliation as swift and extensive, reflecting the increasingly confrontational rhetoric between Tehran and Washington.
The warning followed recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly said that key Iranian infrastructure, including power generation facilities and bridges, could become military targets if diplomatic efforts fail to produce an agreement. The comments have intensified concerns about the possibility of a broader regional conflict.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had launched ballistic missile strikes against military installations in Jordan that it claimed had been used by U.S. forces during operations targeting sites inside Iran. According to the IRGC, the strikes were carried out in response to what it described as an American attack near a children's cancer treatment hospital in Iran.
The reported developments have further heightened tensions across the Middle East, with analysts warning that continued military exchanges could threaten regional stability and disrupt critical infrastructure. Observers also stress that any escalation could have wider consequences for international trade, energy markets, and civilian security.
Diplomatic efforts remain ongoing, with several international actors urging restraint and calling on both sides to prioritize dialogue over military confrontation. Regional governments continue to monitor the situation closely amid growing fears that additional retaliatory actions could lead to a wider conflict involving multiple countries.
