Germany’s police chief praises Morocco’s efficient security cooperation

Germany’s Criminal Police President, Holger Münch, has highlighted the longstanding and effective security collaboration between Germany and Morocco, calling it a partnership that continues to strengthen. Speaking after a meeting in Marrakech with Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), Münch described Moroccan security services as “very efficient” and expressed gratitude for their cooperation.

The German police chief is among the high-ranking officials attending the 93rd session of Interpol’s General Assembly, which is taking place in Marrakech from November 24 to 27. The event has drawn 800 delegates from 179 countries, including 82 police chiefs, to discuss issues such as combating transnational organized crime and enhancing global police capabilities.

Münch underscored the importance of bilateral security efforts, emphasizing that both countries "rely on each other" to address shared challenges. His remarks reaffirm the growing trust and collaboration between Moroccan and German security services.

Interpol’s global security initiative in Marrakech

This marks the second time Marrakech has hosted Interpol’s General Assembly, following the 76th session in 2007. The current meeting focuses on strengthening international police cooperation and advancing the role of women in law enforcement.

In his opening address, Abdellatif Hammouchi reaffirmed Morocco’s dedication to bolstering regional and global security partnerships to combat all forms of crime. He also praised Interpol’s pivotal role in fostering multilateral police collaboration and addressing transnational security threats.

The assembly serves as a platform for police leaders to exchange expertise, coordinate strategies, and discuss emerging challenges in global security, reaffirming Morocco's role as a key player in international policing efforts.
