World Junior Athletics Championships: Morocco’s Imad Bouchajda wins 800m gold
Moroccan middle-distance runner Imad Bouchajda won the 800 metres gold medal at the World Junior Athletics Championships in Eugene, United States, completing a successful campaign for Morocco on Sunday.
Bouchajda produced a winning time of 1 minute 44.64 seconds to claim the world junior title in a closely contested final.

The Moroccan athlete finished ahead of Australia's Daniel Williams, who crossed the line in 1:45.36 to take the silver medal.
Spain's Alejandro Rios completed the podium in 1:46.25, setting a personal best in the process.
The narrow margins between the leading runners made the final a competitive contest, but Bouchajda maintained the advantage needed to secure the world title.

The victory gives Morocco a significant success at the junior world championships, which are being held in Eugene from August 5 to 9.
