Explosions reported in Manama as authorities activate warning sirens
Several explosions were heard on Friday in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, according to witnesses and local reports, prompting authorities to activate emergency warning sirens across parts of the city.
Residents reported hearing loud blasts in different districts of the capital during the early hours of the day. The cause of the explosions was not immediately confirmed, but security services quickly issued precautionary alerts.
In a statement shared on social media, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior urged the public to remain calm and follow official guidance.
“The siren has sounded. We ask citizens and residents to stay calm, move to the nearest safe location and follow updates broadcast through official channels,” the ministry said.
Emergency measures were activated shortly after the incidents were reported, as authorities worked to assess the situation and secure affected areas. No immediate information about casualties or the extent of possible damage was released.
The alert comes amid heightened regional tensions in the Gulf, where several countries have recently strengthened security measures to prevent potential attacks involving drones or other aerial threats.
Earlier in the week, satellite images circulating in regional media suggested damage to a residential high-rise building in Manama following what analysts described as a possible drone strike. Officials have not publicly confirmed the details of that incident.
Authorities have urged residents to rely on verified information and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports while investigations continue.
