CGI achieves level 2 responsible digital certification in Europe and Morocco

CGI (TSX: GIB.A) (NYSE: GIB), a global leader in management consulting and end-to-end IT services, has been awarded the Level 2 Responsible Digital (NR) certification. This recognition applies to its operations in France, Luxembourg, Morocco, Romania, and Switzerland, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable digital practices.

Having previously obtained Level 1 certification in 2022, CGI continues its efforts to improve digital responsibility and becomes the first digital services company with over 5,000 employees to earn Level 2 certification. The Responsible Digital label is based on a framework developed by the Institut du Numérique Responsable (INR), in collaboration with France’s Ministry of Ecological Transition, ADEME (the French agency for ecological transition), and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). This certification recognizes companies that implement ethical and environmentally responsible digital practices to reduce their environmental footprint and create a positive social impact.

"This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to responsible digital practices," stated Caroline de Grandmaison, President of CGI France and Luxembourg. "It highlights the concrete initiatives we have already implemented, such as training 9,000 employees in eco-design and collaborating with key clients like EDF to develop environmentally friendly solutions. The certification also underscores our ambitious action plan for the next three years to integrate sustainability and innovation."

The Level 2 certification process was rigorous, involving a comprehensive audit conducted by independent firm Baker Tilly on behalf of the LUCIE agency. This audit assessed CGI based on 52 criteria across five key areas:

  • Strategy and Governance : Incorporating responsible digital principles into the company’s strategy and establishing dedicated policies.
  • Support for Responsible Digital Strategy : Engaging internal and external stakeholders, integrating digital accessibility, and fostering skill development in digital responsibility.
  • Lifecycle of Digital Services : Encouraging resource efficiency, extending the lifespan of IT assets, and adopting responsible management of software, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Expanding Digital Responsibility : Promoting knowledge-sharing and leveraging digital solutions as a means for positive change.
  • External Influence in Digital Services : Incorporating responsible digital principles into commercial offerings and continuous service improvement.

Following the audit, CGI established a three-year improvement plan prioritizing the application of responsible design principles in client services, aligned with its ongoing training initiatives. The company is also adopting standards for responsible artificial intelligence. Progress will be monitored through environmental impact assessments of digital projects, ensuring measurable and sustainable improvements.
