Moroccan Cyclist Claims Bronze Medal at Cairo's Arab Track Championships
Moroccan cyclist Achraf Ed-Doghmy secured a bronze medal during the opening day of the 13th Arab Track Championships in Cairo on Thursday. The prestigious competition, running from December 26-28, showcases top cycling talent from across the Arab world.
In a competitive field, Emirati cyclists dominated the podium, with Abdellah El Hamadi claiming gold and Saif Al Kaabi taking silver, according to Morocco's Press Agency (MAP).
The Moroccan national team's presence at the tournament features a strong lineup, including cyclists El Houcine Sabahi and Idriss El Alouani, under the guidance of coach Abdelaati Saadoune. The delegation is headed by Mohammed Katim, who serves as both vice-president of the Royal Moroccan Cycling Federation (FRMC) and holds a position on the executive committee of the Arab Cycling Union.
This year's championships have drawn significant participation, with eight nations represented: Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Algeria, Tunisia, Bahrain, and host nation Egypt. The event has attracted 150 participants, including cyclists and support staff.
Ed-Doghmy's current achievement builds upon Morocco's previous success at these championships. During the 11th edition held in Cairo in October 2022, both Ed-Doghmy and Rajae Chakir earned the title of Arab champions, demonstrating Morocco's continuing strength in regional track cycling.
