Prince William begins three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia
Prince William, heir to the British throne, has arrived in Riyadh for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening trade, energy, and investment ties between the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia. His visit begins with a private meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and a tour of the historic At-Turaif site.
During his stay, William is scheduled to visit a sustainable urban renewal project in Riyadh, engage with university experts on energy transition, and meet young female athletes at a football training center. He will also attend an e-sports tournament as part of his engagement with youth and technology initiatives.
On the final day, the prince will travel to the northwest oasis of Al-Ula to visit a natural reserve and a sustainable farm, highlighting environmental and cultural projects in the Kingdom.
Analysts note that William’s visit underscores the United Kingdom’s long-term strategic priorities in the Gulf. The royal visit follows a series of high-level British diplomatic trips, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit in 2024 and ministerial delegations in 2025. London is currently negotiating a trade agreement with the Gulf Cooperation Council, which includes Saudi Arabia, while the Kingdom has expressed interest in participating in the next-generation combat aircraft program developed with the UK, Italy, and Japan.
Observers highlight William’s diplomatic skills, which have been praised internationally, including during his 2024 meeting with US President Donald Trump in Paris.
