Turkish Airlines extends suspension of Beirut flights until May 31
Turkish Airlines has announced the extension of its suspension of flights to Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport until May 31, citing ongoing regional challenges affecting air travel.
The airline had initially planned to resume operations at the beginning of May, but the timeline has now been pushed back by an additional month, according to a communication sent to travel partners and agencies in Lebanon.
This decision comes amid a complex regional context marked by heightened geopolitical tensions and logistical disruptions. Airlines operating in the Middle East are currently facing significant challenges, particularly in securing stable fuel supplies.
One of the key factors influencing the aviation sector is the disruption linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil transportation. The situation has been exacerbated by ongoing conflict dynamics involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
The extension of suspended flights reflects broader concerns within the aviation industry, where carriers are adapting to rapidly changing operational conditions. For passengers and travel agencies, the delay adds uncertainty to travel planning, particularly for routes connecting Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.
While no specific date for the full resumption of normal operations has been confirmed beyond the end of May, the airline is expected to continue monitoring developments closely before making further decisions.
