School holidays: drivers urged to exercise caution on Moroccan highways
As school holidays approach, Moroccan highways are expected to see heavier traffic, according to the National Motorway Company of Morocco (ADM). The authority has issued a set of guidelines to help drivers plan their trips safely and navigate the roads under optimal conditions.
Traffic is anticipated to increase significantly on several key routes, particularly on Friday, March 13, between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m., and Saturday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., corresponding to the main departure times for travelers. A further surge is expected on Sunday, March 22, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., coinciding with the return from school holidays and the end of Eid Al-Fitr celebrations.
ADM advises motorists to organize their journeys in advance and monitor traffic updates via the ADM Trafic mobile application. Drivers are also urged to pay attention to weather alerts, including wind gusts, rain, or fog that could affect road conditions.
Safety precautions are emphasized, such as taking a break every two hours and checking tire conditions before setting off. ADM reminds drivers that emergency lanes should only be used in case of absolute necessity.
Additionally, the company encourages users of electronic tolls to verify their Pass Jawaz balance and recharge it before departure. This service is now available for purchase and top-up at service area shops along the national motorway network.
These measures aim to reduce delays and enhance safety on major highways, ensuring smoother travel for all road users, concludes ADM.
