Range Rover enters the electric era with its first fully electric SUV

Range Rover has officially entered a new chapter in the luxury electric vehicle market with the unveiling of its first fully electric model, following a one-year delay in its planned market launch.

Starting at around £154,070, or approximately $208,420, the new electric Range Rover represents a major step in Jaguar Land Rover's strategy to gradually reduce its reliance on internal combustion engines while preserving the luxury, performance and off-road capability associated with the brand.

The new model arrives at a challenging time for Jaguar Land Rover, which has faced pressure on its financial performance amid US tariffs and disruptions to global supply chains following a cyberattack last year. The electric Range Rover is therefore more than a new addition to the company's lineup: it is also an opportunity to strengthen its position in the rapidly expanding premium EV segment.

Performance is a central part of the vehicle's appeal. The electric SUV can accelerate from zero to 60 mph, or approximately 96.6 km/h, in just 4.3 seconds, putting it firmly in the high-performance luxury EV category.

Range is another key selling point. According to the company, the vehicle can travel up to around 372 miles, or approximately 559 kilometres, on a single charge. Its battery can also be charged from 10% to 80% in about 22 minutes, helping address two of the most common concerns among potential electric vehicle buyers: driving range and charging time.

Beyond its technical specifications, Range Rover is positioning the new model as the beginning of a broader transformation for the brand. The company aims to combine electric propulsion and advanced technology with the refined design, comfort and versatility that have traditionally defined its vehicles.

For Jaguar Land Rover, the launch also represents a test of its ability to compete in the increasingly crowded luxury electric vehicle market. Automakers are facing growing challenges linked to production costs, international trade tensions and supply-chain disruptions, making the successful transition to electric mobility strategically important.

The new electric Range Rover consequently marks more than the arrival of a new powertrain. It signals the brand's attempt to redefine its future while maintaining the premium identity and distinctive character that have made Range Rover one of the world's best-known luxury SUV names.
